Rebuilding the Block

Our nearly 100-acre project area represents a large-scale development opportunity capable of bringing affordable, family-centered housing to the central city.

In 2023, we broke ground on our inaugural 94-unit, family-oriented affordable housing development, Albina One. The building will feature culturally-specific, on-site service provision by community partner Portland Opportunities Industrialization Center (POIC), features gorgeous, communally accessible balconies, shared community floors, a large, lush courtyard, and will be entirely affordable (75 units locked between 30-60% AMI, 19 Section 8-eligible units).

The acquisition of the Portland Public Schools (PPS) headquarters campus is precedent-setting restorative development that will create over 1,000 units of housing for over 3,000 working-class Portlanders, create culturally-specific mixed-use commercial space and an education hub for marginalized students, produce accessible community green spaces, and stabilize enrollment at 3 historically Black and underinvested schools in the heart of Albina (Jefferson High School, Tubman Middle School and Boise-Eliot Elementary School). The PPS site occupies 10.5 acres of prime central city land.

Every unit of housing created through our development process, Albina One included, will be eligible for the Portland Housing Bureau’s N/NE Preference Policy, which will enable us to ensure that displaced community members with historic ties to the district have prioritized, preferential access to everything we build (with the exception of Section 8-eligible units).
