A cleaner Future

Oregonians living adjacent to interstate highway systems have a higher incidence of asthma and worse overall health outcomes than their more advantageously situated neighbors.

We cannot talk about economic and racial justice without simultaneously centering environmental sustainability. The 10.5-acre Portland Public Schools redevelopment will serve as a pilot zone in our broader effort to develop America’s first climate-positive (carbon-negative) district.


Reconnection to the river

In 2023, AVT successfully secured a $5 million grant from Metro Regional Government to begin acquiring waterfront parcels along the Willamette River. We subsequently began the process of scoping a waterfront park that would span just beyond the distance between the Steel and Broadway Bridges alongside local and regional government partners.

At 94 acres, the scale of our development area offers a unique opportunity to both improve life outcomes for our most marginalized communities and reposition our city as a national leader in environmentally sustainable urban planning, design and construction practices.
